The Child Witness to Violence Project at Boston Medical Center has an
opening for a full-time early childhood clinician/consultant who will
provide direct services to children and families with an emphasis on
building capacity in the community of Mattapan to identify and support
very young children who are affected by violence in their homes and
communities. This person will provide clinical assessment and treatment
to young children affected by domestic violence, community violence or
other trauma, and consultation to early childcare settings in the
community. We hope to hire a clinician who is bicultural and/or
bi-lingual, reflecting our emphasis on offering culturally sensitive
services to the diverse populations we serve. The ideal candidate will
have a thorough knowledge of early childhood development, domestic
violence, strong clinical skills and consultative experience in early
childhood settings.
The Child Witness to Violence Project is nationally recognized for its
innovative and comprehensive services for young children and families
affected by violence. Depending on the clinician's interests and
experience, he/she will have opportunities to participate in on-going
research, training and teaching, as well as to interface with a wide
variety of community agencies. The Child Witness to Violence Project and

The clinician/ consultant will:
* Provide clinical assessment and psychotherapeutic treatment of
young children and their families who are referred to the Child Witness
to Violence Project for services.
* Provide consultation and support to classroom teachers and
staff regarding children with behavior problems in 1-2 schools in
Mattapan.
* Work with other team members to provide families with advocacy
and access to resources.
* Participate in the clinical and administrative meetings of the
Child Witness to Violence Project.
Qualifications:
* Previous clinical experience with pre-schoolers and toddlers
* Knowledge of and/or experience with families affected by
domestic violence and/or other trauma
* Teaching and/or consultative experience in child care or
educational settings
* Excellent communication skills
* A minimum of a Master's degree in social work, child
development, or psychology; licensure preferred
* Preference given to candidates who represent the diverse
communities of Boston
