The Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia is seeking
to fill a tenure-track position at the assistant or associate
professor level. Applicants must have demonstrated potential for
outstanding research and teaching commensurate with a Research I
institution.
The successful candidate: will have a demonstrated research interest
in the effect of teachers, their preparation and classroom practices
on the educational outcomes of children; an ability to knowledgably
apply quantitative research methods in evaluating educational programs
employing value added models; and will be interested in working with
school systems and policy makers to improve policies that prepare,
recruit and retain effective teachers. In addition, there is an
interest in individuals who have a research focus on underrepresented
groups, and who place a special emphasis on understanding and valuing
diverse cultural perspectives.
Requirements: (1) Completion of a doctoral degree in Education,
Economics, Policy or related field; and (2) evidence of scholarly
productivity.

complete curriculum vita; (3) three letters of reference from
individuals qualified to evaluate the candidates expertise in the
areas listed above; and (4) other supporting materials to include at
least one sample of scholarship (e.g., journal publication or
