Positions Available: Early Childhood Teacher in Infant Room
2 PM – 6:15 PM

Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to meet Massachusetts Department
of Early Education and Care (formerly OCCS) qualifications for Infant
Teacher. Must have or be working towards a degree in Early Childhood
Education. At least one year experience caring for infants in a
licensed child care facility is desirable.

Primary Responsibilities: Collaborate with team of three other
teachers to plan, implement and evaluate a developmentally based
curriculum for children aged 3 months to 14 months. Document
children's learning. Observe, record and communicate children's
progress. Share responsibility for the safety and well-being of
children in our care, participate in staff and planning meetings and
other program-wide duties as assumed or assigned.

Salary: $14.07-$17 per hour to start depending upon educational
qualifications and experience.

Benefits: 100% health insurance, dental insurance, long-term
disability, paid vacation, personal days and holidays, training and
professional development. Funds available to take college courses in
Early Childhood Education. All teachers are employed under terms of a
collective bargaining agreement with Local 1596, United Auto Workers,

Post-Doc in Quan Analysis

Post-doctoral Research Associate with Expertise in Quantitative Analysis

The Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) at the
University of Virginia has a two-year post-doctoral research associate
position available beginning as early as January 2008. CASTL is a
multi-disciplinary research center with a primary focus on
understanding and improving the effects of schools, teachers, and
classrooms on students' development, particularly among students who
experience social and economic disadvantages.

CASTL is involved with a number of rigorous and innovative large-scale

qualified person who will collaborate with our research team by

CASTL research portfolio of projects in education science, which
include rigorous multi-site studies of interventions, large-scale
longitudinal studies relating classroom and family experiences to
child outcomes, and studies focusing on large-scale observational
assessments of classroom quality and children's social adjustment and

of our current projects). The successful candidate will conduct
extensive data analysis and prepare publications using any of several
data sets available through CASTL, manage and direct components of
ongoing studies, and write grants and design new studies.

Many of these projects include a focus on early childhood education
and development, including work associated with the National Center
for Research in Early Childhood Education (ncrece.org) and the
MyTeachingPartner project (myteachingpartner.net). Therefore,
expertise in early childhood development and education is preferred.

The Charlestown Cooperative Nursery School (CCNS) is searching for a
caregiver-child play group facilitator. CCNS is a unique, parent
cooperative and early childhood resource center that offers a Reggio-
Emilia curriculum, a preschool program with a mixed-aged classroom
(2.9-4 year olds) for three days a week from 9am-12pm (Tuesday,

CCNS also offers caregiver-child play groups for children ages 12
months through 2.8 years. This position would be ideal for a grad

NICHD Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin

NICHD-funded Postdoctoral Position Available at the University of Texas at Austin Population Research Center

The PRC expects to have at least one (and possibly a 2nd) opening for a two-year NICHD-funded postdoctoral position starting as early as June 1, 2008.The PRC is an interdisciplinary research and training unit of the University of Texas at Austin (UT) that provides infrastructure support services and project development support for a very productive, interdisciplinary group of population-related faculty, postdocs, graduate students, and undergraduate students at UT. Most of the research is concentrated in five overlapping and reinforcing thematic areas: Health Disparities; Religion and Demographic Processes; Children, Youth and Families; Education and the Transition to Adulthood; and Latin American and Border Demography. As part of a research unit with a strong culture of collaboration, postdocs are expected to spend about half of their time working independently and about half of their time working together with research associates. We strongly encourage potential applicants to contact research associates to discuss collective interests prior to submitting their application. In addition, postdocs are expected to regularly attend the weekly PRC brownbag, present at least once at the brownbag during the two years of support, and submit research for presentation at the Population Association (PAA) meetings. "developmental methods," in that we are seeking someone with skills in

• Masters Degree required, Ph.D preferred, in education, psychology,
or related field
• Strong background in family involvement theory and practice
• Strong background in evaluation
• At least five years applied experience that includes working in a

• Graduate-level work in evaluation or applied research methods
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and on
multiple projects
• Capacity to think conceptually and frame complex problems essential

program that recruits college students to mentor 3-5 year old children
who need you. Read stories, sing songs and play games that support

members work on teams with other college students for 12 hours a week
in local early childhood and Head Start centers, paired one-on-one

FOR 11-YEAR OLD GIRL!

Our daughter is a wonderful, lively, smart and humorous pre-teen.
Like lots of girls her age she adores High School Musical and Disney
stars Zack and Cody, Hannah Montana and Ashley Tisdale!

She is HIV+, very healthy, non-ambulatory, and weighs approximately 78
pounds. She has been approved for 18 hours/week of personal care
attendant help by MassHealth.

She is in need of some help with the following daily living activities:

* Toileting
* Bath
* Dressing for the day and getting ready for bed
* Hair care (she is African American – can you cornrow, braid, do flat
twists, or other cute styles?)

We will be home too, and will help with lifting and transfers.

She needs a female helper who loves to chat and to laugh, and who can
relate well to a pre-teen. A fluent English speaker is essential for
her comfort. You must have your own transportation. (We live in
Medford) Pay is $15.00/hour. Hours are negotiable, but will require
some early evening and some weekend hours.

References will be required. An in-person interview with our daughter
will also be required.

The Center for Injury Research and Prevention at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a talented, collaborative psychologist / investigator to work with the Center's multi-disciplinary Young Driver Research Initiative to design and evaluate interventions for teens and parents to reduce the risk of crashes among teen drivers. This position represents an opportunity to join the growing Behavioral Science Core at the Injury Center, and to play a key role in building the Center's innovative injury research in this area. In addition to work with the Young Driver Research Initiative, the candidate will have the opportunity to develop an independent research program in related areas of child/adolescent injury prevention 
 
The Center seeks a scholar/scientist (PhD) in psychology or a closely related field, with experience in the design and evaluation of skill training programs and interventions to promote behavior change for youth and parents. Specific content knowledge and expertise in teen driving interventions is strongly preferred, but candidates with relevant expertise in designing and evaluating adolescent learning and behavior change interventions in other content areas are encouraged to apply. Faculty appointment at the University of Pennsylvania may be available for interested and qualified candidates.
