The Tufts Academic Resource Center is currently recruiting talented graduate
students from all departments and fields for the position of Graduate
Writing Consultant for the 2008-2009 academic year.


Graduate Writing Consultant

Position Description

The Tufts University Academic Resource Center is seeking talented graduate
student writers to serve as Graduate Writing Consultants.

Position Description:

Graduate Writing Consultants work one-on-one with undergraduate and graduate
students on a variety of writing tasks including academic papers,
scholarship applications, personal statements, cover letters, conference
papers, senior theses, Master's Theses, and Doctoral Dissertations.

Consultants are responsible for assessing the needs of their clients and for
determining the most appropriate type of instruction and feedback for a
given assignment.

Consultants will be trained to conduct workshops on plagiarism prevention,
senior thesis writing and research, and other topics of interest to the
Tufts writing community.

Applicants should be willing and eager to be involved in all aspects of the
Graduate Writing Program and we encourage students with a range of skills to
consider this position.

Commitment:

The Graduate Writing Consultant position requires a commitment of 5 -10
hours a week. Hours are flexible and can include nights and weekends. In
addition, consultants are expected to participate in all training sessions
and monthly meetings throughout the academic year.

Qualifications:

* Minimum of one-year experience in teaching and/or tutoring of writing
* Excellent written communication skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Willingness to adopt tutoring techniques in accordance with Tufts
Writing Resources philosophy

The pay rate for this position is $18/hr.
