Qualifications:

- Multi-lingual candidates highly encouraged to apply.
- Excellent communication skills for teen audiences, in both one-on-one and
group formats.
- Knowledge of adolescent and/or human development desired.
- Ability to communicate with diverse audiences about topics related to teen
job performance and about teens facing difficult situations in their lives.
- Interest in learning about all facets of marine life.
- Strong collaborator, willing to work with a team, able to adapt quickly to
changing situations, strong organizational and mentoring skills.

Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent, plus 1-2 years of related experience
working with urban youth.

Responsibilities:

- Check-in daily with Teen Interns to provide regular feedback. This
includes shadowing Teen Interns as they work and following up with teens to
ensure they are practicing skills that will help them guide Aquarium
visitors to having great experiences.
- Coordinate high-quality, interactive monthly teen meetings (Thursday Night
Teens), and weekly Teen Council meetings and occasional special events (ski
trip, environmental leadership trips, celebrations).
- Create and manage weekly schedules for approximately 40 teen interns
working in several Aquarium departments and assist with other Visitor
Education scheduling needs.
- Maintain a database for all teen interns and applicants.
- Communicate with Teen Interns' supervisors about issues related to teen
intern job performance.
- Assist Visitor Education to develop and present seasonal training programs
for teens.
- Coordinate and attend recruiting events.
- Track and coordinate communications with teen families to develop positive
relationships that provide support for Teen Intern development. For example:
contact families to ask about use of a teen's membership or on-the-job
issues as they arise.
