1) Cambridge Family and Children's Services (CFCS). This is one of the
oldest family service agencies in the Boston area, and is located in
Cambridge. Intern would work 15-20 hours per week for semester or year
(prefer year-long); unpaid. Work under supervision of the Mentor & Volunteer
Coordinator (an E-P MA alum), assisting in recruiting, training, and
monitoring mentors and volunteers to work with families; high risk teens
including those who are pregnant and or parenting; and at-risk school age
children, who may be in foster care, or who need guidance and support.
Bilingual abilities highly desirable.
2) Project Solve: Supporting Family Well-Being; Pediatric Division, Boston
Medical Center. Internship for 15 hours a week for one semester or 10 hours
a week for full year; start May 2008 for summer placement or September for
academic year placement 2008-2009. Work on pilot research project aimed at
reducing symptoms of depression in parents of the BMC Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit (NICU). Intern implements a problem-solving intervention technique
with clients, as well as conducts interviews for research study. Fluency in
Spanish preferred but not necessary. Intern can participate in both clinical
and research aspects of the project. Related experience desirable. Site
supervisor is an E-P Ph.D. alum.
