(7/31/08) Research Opportunity @ Boston Medical Center

Job Title: Research Assistant
Location: Boston Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics, Project Solve
Time Commitment: 10-20 hrs/week

Job Description:

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in infant mental
health, community health, pediatric psychology, and health services
research.

We are a multi-disciplinary, multi-site clinical intervention study aimed at
preventing depression in mothers of young children from high-risk contexts.
Current sites include local Head Start agencies, the Boston Medical Center
NICU and the Tufts Medical Center NICU. The principal responsibility of
this individual will be to administer an initial standardized research
protocol to participants and engage in weekly or monthly follow-up phone
calls. Additional responsibilities include giving hearing and vision
screens to young children in the community, administrative duties related to
project implementation, and database entry and management. Fluency in
Spanish is required.

Requirements:
1. Fluency in Spanish
2. Bachelor's degree
3. Experience in interviewing and/or working with children and families
4. Ability to work evenings or some weekends as necessary
5. Having own car is desirable

Specific duties and requirements are listed below:
1) Enrollment of parents into research study
2) Administer standardized research protocol to participants
3) Administer hearing and vision screens to children in local Head Start
agencies
4) Create materials and products necessary to facilitate the recruitment of
participants and project management.
5) Maintain electronic and paper files of participants and project file
systems.
6) Participate as research team member with Principal Investigator(s) and
study team.
7) Comply with BUMC Research/HIPAA standards.
