Volunteer facilitators will work with small groups of 6-10 people to
deliberate about a series of questions pertaining to expanding civic
engagement in Boston. Facilitators will be oriented to the program and are
expected to have experience with small group face-to-face deliberation,
comfort with diversity and difference of opinion. The time commitment
entails attendance from 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, with lunch
provided.
The Boston Civic Summit is an independent project co-chaired by Maureen E.
Feeney, President, Boston City Council and James E. Rooney, Massachusetts
Convention Center Authority. This summit will start a conversation on how
community leaders and residents can strengthen the overall vitality of city
life by promoting greater civic engagement and fostering dialogue between
community groups. It will also provide current and prospective community
leaders with tools, training and support to better exercise their important
civic responsibility.
The afternoon sessions are being conducted by AmericaSpeaks, a non-partisan,
non-profit organization with the mission of providing citizens with a
greater voice in the most important decisions that affect their lives.
AmericaSpeaks has engaged more than 130,000 citizens across the country on
such topics as healthcare reform, rebuilding after Hurricanes Katrina and
Rita, shaping municipal budget priorities in Washington, D.C., creating
regional plans for the greater Chicago and Cleveland regions, and developing
rebuilding plans for the World Trade Center site in New York City. For

Child Care Resource Center (CCRC), a leading nonprofit organization that
promotes the care and education of all children through advocacy and
programs that support families, professionals, and communities, seeks

ABOUT CHILD CARE RESOURCE CENTER: Founded in 1971 as the first resource and
referral (R&R) agency in Massachusetts and one of the first in the United
States, CCRC helped set the foundation for the vast network of R&R's
nationwide. R&Rs connect families with quality licensed child care in their
community, strengthen the field of child care by providing recruitment,
training and technical assistance to child care providers, administer the
state's voucher child care program and collect and share child care data for
community planning purposes. CCRC collaborates with more than 50 community
organizations to accomplish its diverse programming. CCRC serves Greater
Boston and extends its reach through a contract with the Department of Early
Education and Care which specifically funds services in Cambridge,
Somerville, Watertown, Newton, Belmont, Arlington, Wellesley, Weston, and
Needham.
CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: Reporting to and
working closely with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be
responsible for defining and executing strategic and operating plans for
CCRC. The Executive Director has an annual operating budget of $1.8 million,
which includes $760,000 in fiscally sponsored funds. In addition, CCRC
manages over $7.8 million in child care subsidy funds. Responsibilities for
the Executive Director include but are not limited to overseeing all
financial, managerial, facility and fundraising needs to ensure that the
organization has the necessary resources to continue to provide exceptional
services. S/he will need to be nimble in responding to the changing
landscape in early childhood education and R&R agencies. S/he will be an
articulate, persuasive, and charismatic advocate of CCRC and will need to be
savvy about early childhood policy issues and politically astute so that
CCRC will continue to serve families and meet their changing needs in the
coming years.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: This is an exciting opportunity for a
leader knowledgeable in early childhood development and community activist
to encourage parents, families, and caregivers to become more active
participants in preparing their children for a lifetime of learning. The
successful candidate will be a visionary and energetic leader with a proven
track record of over five years successfully managing a nonprofit and
trajectory and who has a deeply held, demonstrated respect and understanding
of why early care and education matters. S/he will have a proven track
record in donor cultivation, new revenue generation, and funder relations
with a strong history of successfully taking organizations to the next level
of sustained philanthropic support. S/he will have the drive to be involved
in the community, to listen to what is needed and to act skillfully to
achieve it. The ideal candidate will have a background in Early Childhood
and an unwavering commitment to the belief that all children deserve to and
can enter kindergarten prepared to thrive and a commitment to staff
diversity and an appreciation for its complexities in the broadest sense.

Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Developmental Therapist is working
individually with clients in the delivery of the Cognitive Development
Program. Therapists work with children to develop and improve cognitive
abilities. Therapists are responsible for working with and guiding their
clients through the program. This includes individual sessions in the
office as well as advising clients and often their parents or caregivers on
how to implement the home practice component of the program. Other
responsibilities include administrative tasks such as writing reports,
reviewing records, billing and two staff meetings per week.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have experience working in educational or clinical
settings with children who have learning or developmental needs. B.A. is
required. Knowledge of developmental psychology and experience with other
developmental interventions programs such as "Floortime" are a plus.
Candidates need to have superior interpersonal skills and be adept at
building relationships with children and adults. Strong analytic skills are
also needed for learning and applying the Cognitive Development Program.
Benefits
Salary is commensurate with experience and education. Health and dental
insurance benefits (company pays 80%). Three weeks paid vacation and
several U.S. holidays.

Workdays focus on the afternoons and early evenings (2pm - 7pm) as well as

" I am looking for a graduate student to help me with new internet project
that will launch in May. Basically the task is to read over 60 scripts for
Justaskbaby.com and to find the references for any factual statements in the
scripts. Most come from current child development texts that I used in
wrting for the scripts. I will provide these texts. The student will note
the reference and write a one paragraph summary of the research, method and
results. I can come in and meet with any interested students over the next
couple of weeks. The pay is 15.00 per hour. I waiting to hear about the time
frame.
